Contract Review Manager - Abdul Latif Jameel

Job Purpose

Assist the Head of Contract Department in supporting ALJ-Motors and other ALJ sister companies’ efforts in preparing, examining, negotiating, and reviewing different types of contracts; and checking the related supporting documents. Responsible for reviewing the contracts and tracking contract changes, deliverables, correspondence and risks. Maintaining associated documentation and ensuring requesters’ compliance to the checklist set for the contract review procedure.


  • Provide consistency and oversight in contracts and contractual relationships to ensure effective governance of contracts by ALJ policies, Legal requirement, and requirements of IRC Division relating to contracts, and implementation of best practice and ethical codes.
  • Conduct the initial review of contract on Appian system to be prepared for Legal Department review, and to check the supporting documents of contract, and to ensure the existence of the basic information which must be included in any contract, such as legal names of the parties; term of the contract; responsibilities of each party; and etc.  
  • Prepare supporting reports and participate in contract's clauses negotiations, and handle customer interaction and to provide guidance to the ALJ customers and to quickly respond to the inquiries.  
  • Maintain contract files and database, and analyze contracts for content, clauses and definition of outstanding contractual matters.
  • Coordinate with Contract Department team and Corporate Shared Services Division (CSS) staff and legal counsels and participate in the development and fulfillment of contract requirements in accordance with corporate policies and regulatory agencies.
  • Advise Corporate Shared Services leadership and line management of contractual rights and obligations, and to identify contract issues requiring clarification or amendment as contracts are being entered or updated and route such issues to the respective legal business leader/advisor/attorney.
  • Assist in settling disputes between ALJ and suppliers, carrying communication with legal departments of suppliers in this regard, and providing all information relating to contracts to the Company’s Legal Advisor in the event of technical, administrative, or arbitration disputes.
  • Provide guidance to ALJ associates to initiate the contract on APPIAN system, and deliver departmental reports and analyses to department leadership and other company officials.
  • Assess, track and identify key Company needs for long term contracts. 
  • Assist the Head of Contract Department in his role as the authorized point of contact and subject matter expert with concerned parties for all contractual matters.
  • Establish supplier improvement targets in cost, quality and delivery.
  • Developing key long term supply contracts to achieve continuous improvement.
  • Leverage technology solutions to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of the strategic procurement and contractual processes.
  • Ensure risk management is appropriately applied and mitigate risk when required at all stages of contract preparation, negotiating, and execution.
